I doubt that phone call was anything more than a drunken prank.  Police departments always get a few of those when any case has a high media profile.  Kinda surprised the WMPD only got one such call tbh.

West Memphis is a small town.  I guess one crank call is about right.

Nons have always invoked a false sense of superiority.  I think it was a result of the fact that the WM3 were convicted and had been serving their time.  But now that they're FREE, why continue with the arrogance and name-calling?  Lots of sour grapes over at the Hoax.  Then they send fools like Dog over here to make blanket statements like "we call you names because you argue without evidence."  The problem therein is that the evidence that doesn't help the Nons' position is discarded as "conjecture" and "bullshit."  I mean, what more evidence do we need?  Jessie swore on the Bible, dammit!  (Yet they agree with the trials wherein it was argued that the murders were a result of satanic ritual sacrifice; can't have it both ways, Nons!).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard that!  "I'm the one that killed those 3 kids...(unintelligible)...fondue"

Seriously, though...that's not Damien.  I can't believe anyone would seriously suggest that it was.

I am from the south and I can clearly hear a man say I da one dat killed dem kids.  whatcha gonna do bout it?
It sounds like it may be an older black man in this mid to early 20's.  I am 100% sure that it is not Damien, Jason, or Jessie.
Remember the resturant manager said that there was a black man in the bathroom covered in blood.  Did anyone ever put two and two together?

I'm from the south, too, and my initial impression is the same as yours: Likely a black man in his 20s or early 30s.  And I agree that this is probably a hoax/prank type call.  But yeah, knowing that a black man with blood all over him was seen in a Bojangles restaurant near the crime scene is, pardon the pun, food for thought.

Edit: What I heard was: "I'm the one that killed the kids - three kids.  Whatcha gonna do?"

I, too, am from the deep south--I also lived in West Memphis many, many moons ago.  I agree with a couple of others here--sounds like a black male with a southern accent.  Of course it could be a hoax, but I personally wouldn't be so quick to discard it as credible--particularly with the unresolved Bojangles incident.  Just my two cents  cool

Wow--very interesting article.  Lots of similarities to this case and another example of suspects being discarded and/or completely ignored leading to a great miscarriage of justice.  So glad to see these men have been exonerated!  Thanks for posting that Marysson.   wow

Sure...I saw it on another forum where someone suspected this was Bojangles.

I live in the northeast and to me this call sounds like a white older male.  Black men seem to have a deeper undertone, of course I am no expert.  Personally, I think it sounds like TH.

It doesn't sound like TH. Or Bojangles, or Damien Echols, or anything else that's relelvant to the case.   It sounds like a (probably) drunken prank call made by a random local idiot.

I am convinced it was a prank call.  Nons insist it was DE but the voice sounds like an adult and not a teenager.  I bet there were many more prank phone calls at the time and just not recorded.
