Remember that Christmas show that comes on television every year where  Virginia wrote and letter and asked if Santa was real and then Santa wound up in court trying to prove that he was the real deal? I think that Natalie needed a petition signed by all the people who think TH is guilty. I think that would be powerful a document to have signatures from all over the world by folks who have spent a great deal of time researching this case and probably know it better than anyone.\
i could tell Gary Gitchell about prayer. It is a funny thing. sometimes it looks just like a prayer is answered, but then you have to look at all the aspects of it. Just because a case went to court and was decided a certain way, that doesn't mean that the right decision was reached... even after 16 years. Wrong is wrong and a lie is a lie and never becomes the truth. Like working an algebra problem. You think you know and work a whole page and then get the wrong answer. Then you have the light turn on again and erase and work a page again... wrong answer. you can do that all night. Then you get the picture again and work the page and there you have it. When you get the right path, it comes to you so easy. that is what Mr. Gitchell needs to do. Survey the scene again. He needs to know that every human makes a mistake and admit it. Three young men might have looked like punks but they were human beings and they were innocent of what they were accused of.  In our history, think of the folks who looked different and acted different but what a difference they made to history... Daniel Boone, Albert Einstein, Steinmetz... and we could go on Abe Lincoln. And, especially young teen boys. Remember that song by Johnny cash about the youth today? They all look different and we shake our heads but then we don't execute them for being different. Please don't let that happen, Mr. Gitchell.

Welcome Polly.

I always think about Gitchell's prayer comment as well. Unfortunately far too many people justify their poor behavior with religion. Mr. Gitchell is no exception, unfortunately. If he had to rely on prayer in HOPES he tried the right people, he doesn't belong in a position of public trust.

Gitchell's prayer was new to me so I had to mull over it. My thoughts went back to a time that a friend of mine came to use my phone late in the night. her bfriend played in a rock band and he got put in jail that night for DWI. What she said into the phone remains with me. She asked to speak to the arresting officer and then said to him, "How would your wife like to know that you are having an affair with"... a woman whose name she named. then she went and picked up her bfriend! I am wondering how many folks in West Memphis who are in authority would let someone die on death row before the truth got told on them, too. Dirty little secrets haunt us all, don't they?
The other thing. If Mr. Gitchell was depending on a jury's vote to sentence 3 boys as proof of his prayer being answered. That is stupid. If they all then proceeded to jump off the mountain, would that mean it was God's will for them to do that? Hmm. Juries have been known to be wrong. We all know that. I do know, however, that when God stands up, everyone else will be very afraid. I am a deeply religious person and I grew up in Arkansas... a Baptist like the good governor. I have seen too many times that God is used to hurt people who don't deserve it.
And, I also have studied our country's history. Being a descendant of Daniel Boone and a cousin to Abe Lincoln and George Washington, not much in our history has gone past me. LOL. I know about the witch trials and growing up, not that old to witnessed the original ones, I have seen many innocent people never believe in God again because of the acts of Christians.
